A viral video circulating on social media has sparked national outrage and fierce public debate after capturing a heated encounter between Montserrado County District #6 Representative, Samuel Enders, and a Chinese national at a construction site linked to one of the lawmaker’s district projects.
In the video, the Chinese national is heard confronting Representative Enders in a tone that many Liberians, including media commentators and ordinary citizens, have described as “disrespectful” and “arrogant.” The confrontation, which escalated into a physical altercation, has raised serious questions about the role of foreign workers in local infrastructure projects and the chain of command behind ongoing construction developments.
According to journalists familiar with the situation, the clash occurred at the site of a multi-purpose building project initiated by Representative Enders for his district. The project, which has been progressing slowly, recently came under scrutiny after Enders reportedly received information suggesting unauthorized modifications were being made to the building.
The lawmaker visited the site to investigate, where he questioned workers about the new partitions being erected. He was told that the alterations were being made to create living quarters for Chinese nationals who are expected to work on future overhead bridge projects in the area.
During the site visit, a Chinese national reportedly arrived and began interrogating Representative Enders, asking him to identify himself. The tone and nature of the exchange, captured in the viral footage, were widely condemned by viewers who felt the foreign national had overstepped boundaries by challenging an elected Liberian official on Liberian soil.
The situation grew more tense when Representative Enders learned that a deputy minister had allegedly authorized the repurposing of the facility without his knowledge. Enders expressed surprise and disapproval over the move, stating that he was not informed about any agreement to use the district’s project site as accommodation for foreign workers.

The verbal exchange ultimately turned physical, with video footage showing Rep. Enders pushing the Chinese national during the confrontation. The incident has triggered a flurry of reactions online, with some defending the lawmaker’s actions while others are calling for a formal investigation into the matter.
Efforts to obtain a statement from the Ministry of Public Works were unsuccessful. Multiple attempts to reach the Ministry’s Communications Director, Benjamin Myers, yielded no results as his phone remained off at the time of publication.
As the story continues to develop, many Liberians are calling for greater transparency and coordination between government officials, lawmakers, and foreign contractors to prevent future misunderstandings and ensure respect for both national leaders and the communities they serve.
