Authorities in Nimba County are investigating the fatal shooting of a Burkinabe national in the Dewoblee Forest, located in Electoral District #6. The incident, which has sparked local protests, has led to the detention of six individuals currently under police investigation.
Among those detained is Augustine Gaye, who has been named the prime suspect. According to community members, Gaye was reportedly seen entering the forest with a single-barrel gun prior to the shooting but returned without the weapon. The circumstances surrounding the firearm’s disappearance remain unclear.
Eyewitness reports suggest the victim was cooking in the forest when an unknown shooter discharged a firearm, fatally wounding him. His identity has not yet been released publicly, pending full family notification.

Gaye, in response to the allegations, has denied any involvement in the killing. He claims he has not hunted in over six months and asserts he does not possess a firearm.
All six suspects remain in police custody as the investigation unfolds. Authorities have yet to confirm whether any charges have been filed.
The victim’s body has since been released to his family for burial. Meanwhile, news of the incident has led to unrest in parts of District #6, with community members demanding swift justice and transparency in the ongoing probe.
