The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has officially announced the groupings for the highly anticipated 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet, with Harper City in Maryland County selected as the host for this year’s edition.
Under the theme “Inclusive Development Through Sports,” the tournament is set to begin on December 14, 2025, starting with the Zonal Stage. The event will feature football, basketball, and kickball, with discussions underway to potentially include women’s football in collaboration with the Liberia Football Association (LFA).
Speaking at the draw ceremony in Monrovia on Friday, Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu emphasized the importance of the games in fostering national cohesion.
“This year’s competition is not just about winning trophies but about bringing our people together through the power of sports,” Minister Bangalu stated. “We encourage all counties to prepare diligently and compete with the spirit of fairness, inclusivity, and pride.”

The 15 counties have been divided into four groups, with host Maryland County leading Group A. The full groupings are as follows:

Sinoe County
Margibi County - Group C:

Montserrado County
With defending champions Montserrado County placed in Group D, fans are already anticipating thrilling matches as counties vie for supremacy. Meanwhile, host Maryland County will look to leverage home support for a strong campaign.
The Ministry has urged participating teams to begin preparations early, ensuring a high level of competition while upholding the values of unity and sportsmanship.
As the countdown to December begins, all eyes will be on Harper City, where Liberia’s finest athletes will gather for another unforgettable chapter in the National County Sports Meet.
