In a surprising development, Cecelia Kpor Koon h Koon, wife of Liberia’s embattled House Speaker Richard N. Koon, has dragged the powerful politician to court, accusing him of serial infidelity, spousal abandonment, domestic cruelty, and even bigamy in stunning court documents obtained by this publication.
The 3-page lawsuit paints a dramatic portrait of a marriage that collapsed under the weight of power and betrayal. In sworn testimony, Mrs. Koon alleges their union was “peaceful and harmonious” until late 2018 when her husband “started to enjoy the benefits as Representative of District #11,” becoming “extremely quarrelsome, intolerably pugnacious, violent and cruel” while allegedly conducting affairs with two women – Christiana Belloh Tue and Gifty Faikai.
The most explosive claim? That Koon fathered a child with Faikai in the United States, with Mrs. Koon submitting what appears to be U.S. immigration records dated December 1, 2022 as evidence.
The filing drops an atomic revelation: Christiana Belloh Tue allegedly filed a 2021 U.S. citizenship petition (Form I-130) claiming to be Koon’s “legally married wife” – while his marriage to Mrs. Koon remained legally binding.
“The Defendant and Madam Tue should be criminally held liable for bigamy, polygamy, forgery,” the lawsuit states, noting U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) denied Tue’s petition after investigators apparently uncovered the alleged deception.
Despite Koon’s dual terms as District #11 Representative and current Speaker role (though his legitimacy is contested), Mrs. Koon shockingly claims:
- He “refused to provide support” as a husband
- Withheld two Maryland duplexes (Properties R09 & K10) granted to her in a notarized agreement
- Left her “enslaved in a web showing certain signs of utter destruction of her life“
“The grave threat and danger to her life cannot allow her to remain,” the filing concludes with a harrowing cry for help, describing Mrs. Koon’s mental and physical wellbeing as under siege.
This is happening just a day to Liberia’s Supreme Court ruling Wednesday (April 23) on a the bill of information filed by House Speaker Fonati Koffa.
The timing couldn’t be more explosive:
Tomorrow (Wednesday): Supreme Court decides fate of the house’s leadership
Today: Court filings reveal wife’s allegations of bigamy, abuse, and abandoned US properties
The Supreme Court case stems from a bill of information filed by House Speaker Fonati Koffa and lawmakers of the minority bloc challenging Koon’s January 2024 election as Speaker.
Speaker Koon’s office has not responded to requests for comment. The Civil Law Court is expected to fast-track this case given its explosive nature and the plaintiff’s claims of imminent danger.
