A Liberia National Police (LNP) officer has been charged and sent to the Monrovia City Court after allegedly shooting and injuring a woman at an entertainment center in the Omega Community.
Officer Alieu Kenneh, 41, a graduate of LNP Class 46, is accused of shooting Emmon Namah, popularly known as “T. Girl,” in the leg on March 31, 2025. The victim was reportedly struck just above the knee in what police have described as an “unprofessional discharge” of a firearm.
According to the police charge sheet, Kenneh had gone to the entertainment venue to purchase alcoholic beverages and an energy drink when he allegedly fired a revolver, injuring Namah. Investigators stated that there was no known prior conflict between the officer and the victim, making the shooting appear reckless and unjustified.
The firearm in question, a 206CAL38SPL revolver, was reportedly illegally purchased in Guinea, adding another layer of legal trouble for the accused officer.
Kenneh, who is assigned to the Zone 4 Depot, now faces multiple charges, including:
- Aggravated Assault
- Recklessly Endangering Another Person
- Illegal Possession and Sale of a Lethal Weapon
Police authorities condemned Kenneh’s actions, stating that his conduct was “reckless and unbecoming of a trained officer.” The case has raised concerns about firearm discipline among security personnel and the illegal circulation of weapons in the country.
As the case proceeds in court, many are watching closely to see how justice will be served. The victim, Emmon Namah, is said to be recovering from her injuries, but the incident has left the community questioning the professionalism of those sworn to protect them.
Kenneh’s prosecution sends a strong message about accountability within the LNP, but it also highlights the ongoing challenges of gun control and officer conduct in Liberia.
