At just 19 years old, Liberian footballer Divine Roosevelt Teah has already etched his name into history, winning the Czech First League title in his debut season with Slavia Prague.
The club sealed their eighth league crown in emphatic fashion on Saturday, thrashing Sigma Olomouc 5-0 to clinch the championship with four games to spare. The victory ended a four-year wait for domestic glory and marked a dream start to Teah’s career in Prague.
Teah, who joined Slavia Prague from Swedish side Hammarby in January 2025, was one of the most expensive Liberian transfers in history, with the deal reportedly worth up to €3.5 million. Though he was an unused substitute in the title-clinching match, the young forward has already made five appearances this season, gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s emerging leagues.

For Teah, lifting the trophy represents his first major honor at the professional level, a milestone that underscores his rapid rise in European football.
“This is just the beginning,” Teah said in a post-match interview. “Coming here and winning the league in my first season is incredible. I’m learning every day, and I want to keep growing with this team.”
While Teah’s triumph marks a fresh chapter, another Liberian has been a cornerstone of Slavia’s success, Murphy Oscar Dorley. The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the club in 2019, has now won his third trophy in Prague, having made over 170 appearances.
However, Dorley’s time at Slavia may be coming to an end. As captain of Liberia’s national team, the Lone Star, he has attracted interest from several clubs, and Slavia appears open to his departure following midseason reinforcements.
“Murphy has been a leader for us, but football moves fast,” said Slavia’s sporting director. “If the right offer comes, we won’t stand in his way.”
With the league title secured, Slavia Prague now turns its attention to next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage, an opportunity for Teah to test himself against Europe’s elite.
For Liberian football, the success of Teah and Dorley serves as inspiration. As one star rises and another prepares for a potential new challenge, their achievements continue to put Liberian talent on the global map.
“This is a proud moment for Liberia,” Teah said with a smile. “We’re showing that we belong at the highest level.”
And if his debut season is any indication, the best may be yet to come.
