The fallout from the Capitol Building standoff between Speaker Richard Koon and Representative Yekeh Kolubah is already unfolding, with two officers from the Police Support Unit (PSU) being recalled for their involvement in the chaotic incident.
Sergeant Sam C. F. Karbor and Chief Inspector of Police Frank P. Banda are now under investigation at the Liberia National Police’s Professional Standards Division, raising questions about accountability in the security forces.
But while the LNP is quick to recall these officers, one must ask,who truly takes responsibility for this embarrassing episode? These officers didn’t act on their own; they were following orders. If accountability is the goal, shouldn’t the chain of command, including those who issued the directives, also be questioned?

This incident, stemming from a simple parking dispute, spiraled into an unnecessary display of force, leaving Representative Kolubah’s vehicle vandalized and valuable items unaccounted for. Now, as the dust settles, only junior officers face scrutiny while those in power remain untouched.
Liberians deserve leadership that prioritizes national issues over personal grudges. The country is battling economic hardships, but the focus at the Capitol is a parking space. At what point do we demand better from those in charge?
