Liberian Footballer Frederick Boakai Passes Away In Tunisia After Attending A Gathering With Friends.

Liberia’s football community is in mourning following the devastating news of the passing of Frederick Boakai. The young footballer, who had recently gone out for a gathering with some friends in Tunisia on February 3, 2025, was discovered d€ad under mysterious and heartbreaking circumstances.

According to reports, Boakai was found unconscious near his residence. While his phone was still with him, his money was missing, raising suspicions about the tragic incident. He was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to a close friend who was with him prior to his demise, they all went out for a meeting with some Liberian friends not too far from their area. After the meeting they had few drinks and then the rest of his friends decided to go back to their quarter but Frederick insisted that he was staying to pass the night there with the other guys.

The friends he went with, left him there and decided to go home after several failed attempts to take him home along with them. Only to get a call from him at midnight telling them that he was on his way home to them. After waiting for him for hours and they didn’t see him, the friends then started a group call in their Liberian chat room to raise alarm of what was happening. He joined the call and the only thing he could say was “Guys I’m in an emergency situation. Y’all help me”, and dropped the line.

Whilst efforts to find a solution till the morning hours, they got a call from another quarter not far from them, informing them that their friend was lying unconscious in the area. They rushed there only to find him lying unconscious with foams pouring out of his mouth. The quickly called the police and the ambulance which took him to a nearby hospital that pronounced him dead upon arrival.

This unexpected loss has left Liberians in shock, especially those in the football world who had high hopes for his future. Boakai was a young talent with dreams of making a name for himself on the international stage. His journey was just beginning, yet fate had other plans.

He was once a winner of the National County meet with Montserrado and later won 3rd place with Margibi. His last club he played for was Holy City a 3rd division club basing in Sinkor on 9th street.

The Liberia Football Association, fellow players, and fans across the country are deeply saddened by this tragedy. His family, who had wished nothing but success for him, now faces an unimaginable loss.
