Liberia’s football community witnessed another milestone as the Liberia Football Association (LFA) officially presented FIFA badges to 10 referees and assistant referees approved to officiate international matches in 2025.
The brief but significant ceremony took place on Friday, January 31, at the LFA Headquarters in Congo Town, marking yet another step forward for Liberian refereeing on the global stage. With FIFA releasing its list of international match officials earlier this month, five center referees and five assistant referees from Liberia made the cut, a testament to their dedication and competence.
This group of elite officials, comprising six men and four women, now carries the weight of national pride as they prepare to represent Liberia in international competitions. The journey to this level has been anything but easy, requiring years of commitment, physical endurance, and mental sharpness.

Former FIFA badge referee Alex Nagbo, speaking on behalf of Judge Joseph M. Kollie, Chairman of the Referee Committee, reminded the referees of the enormous responsibility that comes with the badge. He urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, stressing that fairness and professionalism must remain their guiding principles. In a world where the credibility of referees is often scrutinized, maintaining transparency and excellence is non-negotiable.
