What could drive a man to commit the unthinkable? A husband in Hyderabad, India, has confessed to a crime so horrific that it seems straight out of a dark thriller. But this isn’t fiction—it’s a real-life nightmare.
Gurumurthy, a 45-year-old retired soldier and father of two, has admitted to killing his wife of 13 years, Venkata Madhavi, after a heated argument spiraled out of control. According to police reports, what started as a domestic dispute ended in a gruesome act of violence that has shocked the community.
A Tragic End After a Heated Argument
Madhavi had been missing since January 16, and her family feared the worst. When police began investigating, Gurumurthy initially claimed she had stormed out of the house after an argument. But something about his story didn’t sit right. Surveillance footage from around their home raised suspicions, leading officers to press him for the truth.
And then, in a chilling confession, Gurumurthy admitted to the unimaginable.
He told police that during their argument, in a moment of uncontrolled rage, he slammed Madhavi against a wall, killing her instantly. But what he did next is beyond comprehension.
A Crime Beyond Imagination
Instead of alerting authorities or seeking help, Gurumurthy decided to cover up his crime in the most disturbing way possible. He dismembered his wife’s body using a kitchen knife, boiled her remains, and even ground her bones using a pestle and mortar. He then disposed of the remains in Meerpet Lake, hoping to erase all traces of his act.
When police searched the couple’s apartment, they found a pressure cooker, knives, and a kettle—potential evidence that painted a gruesome picture of what had transpired.

The Investigation Unfolds
Despite his confession, police are carefully piecing together evidence to confirm every detail. So far, no body parts have been recovered, making it challenging to fully verify his claims.
“As of now, we don’t have any reasons to believe it was a premeditated crime. It seems like the result of a petty quarrel,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch Praveen Kumar.
Investigators are still searching for remains in the lake and questioning Gurumurthy to uncover more details.
A Story That Leaves Us Questioning
This case isn’t just another crime story—it’s a haunting reminder of how unchecked anger can lead to irreversible actions. How does a man go from loving husband to brutal murderer in a matter of moments? Was this truly a crime of passion, or is there something even darker lurking beneath the surface?
As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: this tragedy has left a permanent scar, not just on one family, but on an entire community struggling to make sense of such a horrific act.
