Reports of escalating tensions at the Ministry of Public Works have surfaced, with claims that Minister Roland Giddings and Deputy Minister of Technical Services Prince Tambah were involved in a heated confrontation that allegedly turned physical.
According to sources, the two senior officials engaged in a verbal disagreement during a meeting on Thursday, which quickly escalated, leaving both senior and junior staff shocked. Allegedly, the argument resulted in a fistfight between the two men.
However, Ben Myers, Communications Director for the Ministry, firmly denied the claims. “There was honestly never an argument, let alone a fight,” Myers stated. “While the two may occasionally disagree, they are professionals and would not stoop to such levels. The rumors seem to be part of a propaganda campaign aimed at discrediting the Ministry.”
Despite Myers’ refutation, reports indicate that ongoing friction between Giddings and Tambah has been causing disruption within the Ministry. Last week, Minister Giddings issued a formal warning to his deputy, accusing him of insubordination and obstructing the Ministry’s operations.
In a letter obtained by FrontPageAfrica, Giddings condemned Tambah’s behavior, stating that it was hindering the Ministry’s goals and undermining his authority. He specifically criticized Tambah for refusing to sign and withholding vouchers meant for the timely release of funds for engineers working on the 100-day corridor project.
As tensions continue to rise, President Joseph Boakai, currently out of the country, is reported to have expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing discord at the Ministry. He has instructed both officials to resolve their differences or face serious administrative consequences.
The situation at the Ministry of Public Works has become a matter of concern, with many watching closely to see how the leadership will handle the internal strife.
