China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) has officially broken ground on a new facility for the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), marking a major boost for the nation’s media infrastructure. This project is part of the support pledged by Chinese President Xi Jinping during President Joseph Boakai’s recent visit to China, aimed at enhancing Liberia’s broadcasting capabilities.

The new facility will cover about 1,500 m², with a modern construction area of 944.57 m². The project includes the addition of a broadcast vehicle and a state-of-the-art satellite transmission system. Furthermore, Monrovia’s satellite ground station and towers will be upgraded, making media services more accessible to the public. Once completed, the enhanced satellite system will extend broadcasting coverage to all 15 counties in Liberia, improving access to news, educational programs, and information across the country.

This initiative reflects China’s growing investments in Africa’s infrastructure and aligns with Liberia’s goal of expanding communication services, promoting transparency, and strengthening its media landscape.
