Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe of Bomi County has made public his plans to introduce three cardinal laws for approval into legislation of the laws of the republic of Liberia. The senator’s plans is to have three of the biggest religious holidays amongst Liberians legislated into lead as public holidays.

One of the law is to have the Christian holiday of the month of Easter legislated into law to become a public holiday while two of the laws will enable Muslims to celebrate their holy fast month Eid Al-fitr nd Eid al-Adha as a public holiday providing them freedom to exercise their religious rights for the same purpose as that of the Christian holiday.

The legislation of these laws have been debated on for years in the two houses of legislature and he believes that it is now time to get things sorted out to help maintain the long lasting love, peace and unity that both Christians and Muslims have shared over the decades.

In his post Hon. Snowe said

“This week, I will be introducing three landmarks legislations on the floor of the Liberian Senate. I hereby call on my colleagues in the legislature as well as the general public to give these legislations their fullest support for passage;

  • “An Act Making Easter Monday a Public Holiday”
  • “An Act Making Eid al-Adha (Abraham’s Day) a public Holiday”
  • “An Act Making Eid al-Fitr (End of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Festival of Breaking Fast) a Public Holiday”
