The Ministry of Youth and Sports has suspended several senior officials of the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) as part of an ongoing internal investigation, signaling a decisive move toward accountability within the institution.
Those suspended include Mr. Wilfred Payne, Director of MVTC; Mr. Hamilton Faryah, Finance Officer; and Mr. Kenneh Lawson, Admissions Officer. According to the Ministry, the officials will remain off duty while an investigation is conducted into matters yet to be publicly detailed. The probe is expected to be concluded within one month.
In response to the leadership gap, the Ministry has announced a series of acting appointments to ensure continuity in the institution’s operations. Mr. Alieu Kemokai has been named Acting Director General for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), while Mr. Cyrus Zizi will serve as Acting Director of MVTC. Mr. Kaema Jones has also been appointed as Acting Administrator of the institution.
The Ministry emphasized that these measures are part of broader efforts to reinforce transparency and strengthen the management of technical and vocational education in Liberia. Authorities say the interim appointments are intended to maintain stability at MVTC while the investigation proceeds.
The latest development comes at a time when concerns about the administration of the institution have drawn public attention, with the Ministry now under pressure to demonstrate firm oversight and restore confidence in the country’s vocational training system.
