A serious allegation has emerged from Bomi County, where a woman identified as Miatta Cooper is accusing officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) of actions she claims led to the loss of her pregnancy.

Cooper recounts that on March 26, LDEA officers carried out a raid in Domagbantinah, Klay District, during which she was arrested. She alleges that the officers searched her residence without presenting a warrant and, after reportedly finding no incriminating substances, proceeded to detain her.

According to her account, the conditions under which she was transported to Tubmanburg were harsh and unsafe, ultimately resulting in her suffering a miscarriage. She further claims that during the incident, an amount exceeding L$100,000 went missing, adding that she possesses evidence to substantiate her claims.

However, the LDEA has firmly rejected the accusations. Speaking on behalf of the agency, Bomi County Commander Alex Seh Flomo stated that the operation was conducted under the authority of a legally obtained search warrant. He acknowledged that no drugs were discovered during the search but noted that officers confiscated L$20,000 along with a scale, items he said are linked to suspected drug-related activities.

The conflicting accounts have raised concerns and are likely to intensify calls for a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
