Shaita Angels FC President Benita W. Urey has rejected the Liberia Football Association’s (LFA) decision to reduce her suspension from five years to three, maintaining that the sanction remains unjust, baseless, and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by her office on Saturday, Urey denied any involvement in match-fixing and dismissed claims allegedly circulated by the LFA Media Department suggesting she admitted to wrongdoing or bribery. She described the assertions as false, misleading, and damaging to her reputation.

Urey further questioned the credibility of the disciplinary process, raising concerns about the sanction imposed on a Paynesville FC player who, according to her, did not participate in one of the matches under investigation. She argued that such inconsistencies cast doubt on the fairness of the entire proceeding.

The Shaita Angels president also took aim at LFA President Mustapha Raji, accusing him of presiding over a biased and undemocratic administration. She reaffirmed her support for Cassell A. Kuoh in the upcoming LFA presidential election, signaling growing tensions within the country’s football leadership.

Calling on stakeholders to demand justice and accountability, Urey warned that the handling of her case could set a troubling precedent for governance in Liberian football.

She confirmed that she will challenge the LFA’s decision through all available legal avenues, including an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as she seeks to clear her name and defend her integrity.

Urey emphasized her continued commitment to fairness, transparency, and the development of the sport, insisting that she will not be deterred by what she describes as targeted actions against her.
