Two people sustained serious injuries following a railway accident in White Plains involving a train and a vehicle, prompting an investigation by the Liberia National Police (LNP).
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred late Wednesday evening when a train traveling from Monrovia collided with a vehicle that was attempting to cross the railway track in the White Plains area.
Authorities say the impact left two individuals with severe bodily injuries. Both victims were quickly rushed to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Police officers assigned in the White Plains area have since launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
The Liberia National Police is urging motorists to exercise heightened caution when approaching railway crossings and to strictly adhere to safety regulations intended to prevent such accidents. Officials say respecting railway signals and ensuring tracks are clear before crossing can significantly reduce the risk of collisions.
Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
