The Sakumono District Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged lynching of Austin Tengbeh, a 26-year-old Liberian national, in the Lashibi area of Accra.
The suspects, currently in police custody, have been identified as Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34.
According to a police situational report, the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call on February 27, 2026, from an unidentified caller, reporting that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of angry individuals near the ECG area in Lashibi.
Police officers immediately responded and proceeded to the scene, where they found Mr. Tengbeh lying unconscious with visible signs of assault, particularly around his neck and head. Preliminary investigations suggest that the mob allegedly mistook the victim for a thief.
He was swiftly transported to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities say the body has since been deposited at the same facility as investigations continue and required diplomatic procedures are being observed.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the National Police Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for other suspects believed to have conspired in the commission of the crime.
Police have assured the public that investigations remain ongoing and that all individuals found to be involved will be brought to justice.
