Authorities have named Liberian economist and political commentator Samuel Jackson as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into the death of his South African wife, following new findings at the scene.

The announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Liberia National Police, Sam Collins, who disclosed that investigators observed signs of serious injuries on the deceased during an initial assessment.

According to Collins, police noticed a significant wound on the victim’s head along with other visible marks on her body.

“A very deep laceration was seen on the head of the deceased. We saw what appears to be bruises on the body. Mr. Jackson also alluded that there was blood on the scene of the incident,” Collins stated.

Based on these observations, the police say the matter is now being treated as a possible homicide case. As part of the investigation, Jackson has been classified as a person of interest while authorities continue to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

“This is an alleged homicide investigation. Sam Jackson is a person of interest. The police will remain deployed at his home,” Collins added.

The development comes only hours after Jackson publicly announced the passing of his wife on social media, stating that she had died after a medical emergency and difficulties accessing urgent medical care.

Investigators say the case remains active as officers continue examining the scene and interviewing relevant individuals. The Liberia National Police has indicated that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
