An official court document has contradicted a widely circulated online report alleging that a Nigerian pastor sodomized a 19-year-old Liberian boy to death in Monrovia.
Earlier on Tuesday, Verity New Online published a breaking report claiming that Abiodun O. J. Babalola, a Nigerian national and pastor of the Living Hope Ministry in Congo Town, was under investigation for allegedly sodomizing a 19-year-old boy who later died. The report further alleged that medical evidence and pictorial documentation confirmed severe rectal trauma consistent with sexual assault.
However, an official coroner’s finding issued under the Ministry of Justice tells a different story.
According to the coroner’s report, the deceased, identified as Jason Ahimie, aged 19 and a Liberian citizen, underwent a coroner’s inquest and post-mortem examination on February 27, 2026, at the Abraham Roberts Funeral Home. The examination was conducted by the county coroner alongside forensic investigators from the Liberia National Police.
The report states that there were no visible signs of violence on the body, including lacerations, bruises, abrasions, or wounds. It further notes that “the anus was observed intact, with no sign of being disarranged or sodomized,” adding that all other body parts appeared visually intact.
Based on these findings, the coroner concluded that there was no sufficient evidence at this stage to determine the cause of death and formally recommended a scientific autopsy to establish the actual cause of death and resolve what the document described as growing doubts and public speculation.
Verity New Online’s report cited family sources who alleged that the teenager had lived under the pastor’s care for approximately two years following his high school graduation and that communication with his family was allegedly restricted. The report also claimed the pastor attempted to pressure the family into a swift burial after the boy’s death, an action that reportedly raised suspicion and prompted the family to insist on examining the body.
As of press time, no official autopsy results confirming sexual assault or identifying a definitive cause of death have been released. Authorities have also not announced any formal charges against Pastor Babalola.
The matter remains under review as investigators await further forensic examination to establish the facts surrounding the death.

In a further development, the Liberia National Police has publicly dismissed claims that it is investigating a Nigerian pastor in connection with the teenager’s death. Police Spokesperson Sam Upriver Collins stated minutes ago via his personal facebook account that the LNP is not investigating any Nigerian pastor, directly contradicting earlier assertions published by Verity New Online. The clarification adds another layer to the unfolding controversy as authorities continue to call for a scientific autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
