Land inheritance and property ownership disputes are increasingly becoming a daily struggle for residents across Monrovia and its surrounding communities, as evictions and demolitions continue to rise.

Several communities including Wroto Town, Saye-Town, and the 72nd Barrack (Camp Raymond) area have recently experienced forced demolitions, leaving many residents displaced without clear resettlement plans. The latest demolition occurred on Thursday, February 6, 2026, in Wroto Town.
Residents of Wroto Town, located in the Airfield area, were left in tears as homes and properties they had spent years building were demolished by the Ministry of Public Works. The demolitions are reportedly linked to a federal road project in the community.

Some affected residents said they were initially informed years ago that the area would be used for a public project, but were later told under the previous government that the land would no longer be affected. They said the recent decision to proceed with the demolition came as a shock.
Now homeless and with limited options, residents are calling on the government to provide resettlement assistance or support in finding alternative accommodation.
