The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has officially appointed Rev. Luther Tarpeh, Chairman of the ruling Unity Party and the Board of the National Port Authority, as Chairman of the reconstituted Lone Star Mobilization and Fundraising Committee. The move follows approval by the LFA Executive Committee and is aimed at strengthening support for Liberia’s national football teams.
The newly reconstituted committee, chaired by Rev. Tarpeh, has been tasked with assembling, organizing, and managing resources, including funds, personnel, and technical support, for Liberia’s national football teams. Ex-officials serving on the committee include Minister of Youth and Sports designate Cornelia W. Kruah, LFA First Vice President Prof. Sekou W. Konneh, and Second Vice President Saye-Taayor A. Dolo.
The appointment takes immediate effect upon receipt and will continue through the end of 2026. In a formal communication, the LFA cited Rev. Tarpeh’s extensive experience in resource mobilization and his commitment to football development as key reasons for his selection.
As Chairman, Rev. Tarpeh will lead efforts to coordinate, promote, and source critical support for the Lone Star. His responsibilities include presiding over all committee meetings, developing strategies to secure sponsorships, financial backing, and logistical support, as well as engaging stakeholders, fans, and communities across Liberia and the diaspora.

Accepting the appointment, Rev. Tarpeh described the task ahead as a national mission, with a clear focus on qualifying Liberia for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.
“The last time Liberia appeared at the AFCON was in 2002. It has been 24 years since the pride of our nation was represented on that stage. It is time to break the jinx,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude to LFA President Mustapha Raji and his executive team, Rev. Tarpeh emphasized that achieving success will require collective effort beyond football administrators alone.

“I accept this appointment with humility. I call on all Liberians, irrespective of political, social, or ethnic background, to join me and the Mobilization Team to make this dream a reality,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of unity and national pride, Rev. Tarpeh concluded by urging Liberians at home and abroad to support the committee’s work, declaring AFCON 2027 qualification as a national priority.
“AFCON 2027 is a must. Let us work together to put smiles on the faces of Liberians everywhere,” he added.
