The National Investment Commission (NIC) has issued a firm clarification addressing growing public discussions surrounding the ownership and development status of the Hotel Africa property.
In its official statement, the Commission stressed that it has never recognized, appointed, endorsed, or approved any individual or entity as a developer of Hotel Africa outside the Government’s legally established procedures. The NIC emphasized that any claims suggesting otherwise are false and misleading.
According to the Commission, the Government of Liberia, acting through the Inter-Ministerial Concessions Committee (IMCC), is presently engaged in structured and lawful discussions with a potential developer. These engagements, the NIC noted, are being conducted strictly within the framework of applicable laws governing public assets.
The Commission further explained that there is a clearly defined statutory process for acquiring development rights or entering into partnerships involving national properties. This process includes formal submissions, comprehensive due diligence, inter-agency reviews, and, where required, legislative ratification.
The NIC warned that any individual or organization claiming authority to negotiate, represent, or develop the Hotel Africa property without formal government approval is acting independently and without the knowledge or consent of the Commission.
As a precaution, the NIC urged investors, financial institutions, contractors, and the general public to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence. It cautioned that any dealings with unauthorized persons purporting to act on behalf of the Government in relation to Hotel Africa are undertaken entirely at the risk of the engaging party.
Reaffirming its stance, the Commission stated that the Government remains committed to transparency, adherence to the rule of law, and the protection of public assets in the national interest.
The statement was issued in Monrovia and signed by the National Investment Commission.
