The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into a widely circulated video showing Liberian artist Christoph The Change performing at St. Theresa Convent, a Catholic all-girls school located in Monrovia, an incident that has triggered intense public criticism and safeguarding concerns.
The video, which has gained significant traction across social media platforms, captures a musical performance involving students in a school-related setting. Education authorities have described the content of the performance as inappropriate for minors, raising serious questions about child protection, supervision, and compliance with national education standards.
According to the Ministry, efforts are currently underway to verify the full circumstances surrounding the event, including whether the performance was officially approved, who authorized the artist’s presence on campus, and the level of oversight provided by school authorities during the activity.
The incident has sparked widespread backlash from members of the public, with criticism directed at the school administration, parents or guardians, and the artist himself. Many commentators have questioned the judgment exercised by those responsible, particularly given the school’s religious foundation and its role in the moral and academic development of young girls.
In response, the Ministry of Education has begun engaging the administration of St. Theresa Convent and other relevant stakeholders as part of its ongoing inquiry. Officials say appropriate actions will be taken in line with national education policies and child safeguarding regulations once the review is concluded.
The Ministry has assured the public that further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
