Monrovia, Liberia — The Clar Hope Foundation (CHF), through its City of Hope Academy, has announced plans to appeal a recent court decision denying its Motion to Quash a Subpoena Duces Tecum, describing the ruling as constitutionally flawed.

In a statement released to the public, the Foundation confirmed that its legal team has been instructed to seek appellate review at the Supreme Court of Liberia, emphasizing that the move is grounded in respect for constitutional governance rather than an attempt to conceal information.

According to the Foundation, the appeal centers on the proper exercise of government authority and adherence to constitutional protections. “This appeal is not about hiding anything,” the statement read. “It is about ensuring that the Constitution of Liberia is respected and that government power is exercised properly and fairly.”

The Clar Hope Foundation defended its operations as consistent with global norms, noting that First Ladies around the world commonly engage in humanitarian and social initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. The organization said its work has always focused on aiding children and families, strengthening communities, and contributing to national development.

The Foundation further cautioned against equating the existence of a charitable organization with allegations of wrongdoing. It argued that many current and former First Ladies establish foundations to advance social causes, and that such efforts should not automatically invite suspicion or presumptions of misuse of public resources.

“This matter is now before the appellate court,” the statement continued. “The Clar Hope Foundation will see this process through, not out of defiance, but out of respect for the rule of law.”

While expressing confidence in the judiciary’s ability to weigh the constitutional questions raised, the Foundation affirmed its willingness to comply with any lawful process conducted in full conformity with the Constitution.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the Clar Hope Foundation said it remains committed to its humanitarian mission, pledging to continue its work with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering dedication to the Liberian people.
