A man identified as Isaac Tondo was allegedly murdered and secretly buried in the Clay Ashland community of District 17, Montserrado County, in a case that has sparked concern among residents and prompted an active police investigation.
According to information from the Liberia National Police (LNP), the body of Isaac Tondo was discovered and later exhumed by officers of the LNP District 17 Detachment, with operational support from the Police Support Unit (PSU/R6). The exhumation followed reports that the victim had been killed and buried under suspicious circumstances.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the victim was allegedly wrapped in plastic, set on fire, and subsequently buried in an attempt to conceal the crime. Authorities believe the killing and burial took place on Friday night.
Police sources further disclosed that a suspect currently in custody has confessed, stating that Isaac Tondo was murdered by a group of gang members allegedly led by a man known as “M.O.G,” who is reportedly a notorious drug dealer in the area.
The LNP says investigations remain ongoing as efforts continue to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to the alleged killing. Police have not yet announced formal charges but assured the public that those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, authorities have clarified that the deceased, Isaac Tondo, is not the former Liberian national football team player who shares the same name, dispelling circulating rumors and public confusion.
The Liberia National Police has urged the public to remain calm and to provide any relevant information that may assist in the investigation.
