The Liberia National Police (LNP) has taken into custody a Ghanaian national, identified as Michael Owiredu, in connection with the killing of 24-year-old Kabba Musa in Brewerville, Montserrado County.
Kabba Musa’s body was discovered on December 1, 2025, in the Parker Corner community under circumstances that initially pointed to mob justice. Early claims suggested the young man had been beaten to death after allegedly stealing a motorbike, a narrative that quickly circulated within the community.
Police investigations have since dismantled that account, revealing what authorities describe as a calculated act of violence followed by an attempt to mislead the public. According to sources familiar with the investigation, Kabba Musa was allegedly murdered by Owiredu with the assistance of other individuals and his body later dumped along the roadside at about 1:00 a.m.
Contrary to the initial claims, investigators confirmed that Kabba Musa was neither a criminal nor a motorbike rider. Instead, findings indicate that he had a business relationship with the prime suspect. The two were reportedly partners, and unresolved financial disputes between them are believed to have escalated into the fatal confrontation.
Information gathered by investigators suggests that Owiredu had entrusted Kabba Musa with several laptops to sell. Tensions allegedly arose after the suspect accused the victim of failing to turn over the proceeds from the sales. On the day of the incident, Kabba Musa reportedly crossed paths with Owiredu while returning from his usual daily hustle, an encounter that investigators say ended in his death.
The LNP has not ruled out additional arrests as the investigation continues. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have been involved in the killing, while preparations are underway to formally charge the suspect in accordance with Liberian law.
