LDEA Condemns Assault by Two Officers, Disrobes Them and Launches Internal Investigation
The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has strongly condemned the actions of two of its officers, identified as Solomon Gbondo and Faith Willie, who were seen in a video assaulting a female suspect, describing the incident as a clear violation of the agency’s Code of Conduct.
In a statement issued for immediate release, the LDEA said the conduct displayed by the officers was “completely unacceptable” and runs contrary to established professional standards that strictly prohibit assault, abuse, or inhumane treatment of any individual, regardless of the circumstances.
Both officers have been immediately disrobed of their duties and turned over to the Board of Internal Inquiry and Professional Standards (BIIPS) to undergo a full investigation. The LDEA said appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry.
The agency further distanced itself from the actions of the officers, emphasizing that such behavior does not reflect its values or mandate to serve and protect the public. It issued a stern warning to all personnel against the abuse of authority, stressing that any officer found engaging in similar misconduct will face the full weight of the law.
“There is absolutely no room for abuse of power within the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency,” the statement concluded, reaffirming the LDEA’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.
