The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) says Hipco and Trapco artist Karwordou Cole, popularly known as Bucky Raw, remains in its custody following an early-morning operation at his Duport Road residence, dismissing widespread social media reports claiming the musician had been released.
In a press statement issued Friday, the LDEA said officers, acting on a duly issued search and seizure warrant, arrested Bucky Raw and several other individuals at approximately 7:00 a.m. as part of its ongoing nationwide anti-drug operation dubbed “Clean Wave.”
According to the agency, the operation led to the seizure of 31.6 grams of marijuana from the residence. All suspects, including Bucky Raw, are currently undergoing investigation and will be forwarded to court in keeping with the law, the statement said.
The LDEA emphasized that, under Liberia’s drug laws, drug-related offenses are classified as non-bailable, countering online claims that the artist had already been freed. The agency did not provide further details on the timing of court proceedings or the specific charges expected to be filed.
The clarification comes amid intense public debate following viral videos and conflicting accounts circulating online about the raid and its aftermath. The LDEA said its statement was issued to set the record straight regarding the status of the suspect and the facts surrounding the operation.
As the “Clean Wave” campaign continues across the country, the LDEA called on members of the public to support the fight against drug trafficking by reporting suspicious activities through its official hotlines: 0777-133-333 or 0888-133-333.
The agency said further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
