The Liberia National Police (LNP) through its Anti-Robbery Unit has launched an appeal to the public, particularly victims of motorbike theft, to come forward and identify their stolen property after a major breakthrough led to the recovery of seventeen (17) motorcycles in Montserrado County and surrounding areas.
According to the police, the recovery followed an intelligence-led operation on October 17, 2025, which resulted in the arrest of suspect Lassannah Kromah, commonly known as “Laso.” The suspect was apprehended after investigators traced a network of motorbike theft and illegal sales activities linked to his residence, an area that also functioned as a makeshift garage.
Preliminary findings revealed that Laso had been purchasing stolen motorbikes from thieves and reselling them with fraudulent receipts, deceiving buyers into believing the bikes were legally obtained. He reportedly claimed to operate a legitimate business registered in Ganta City, Nimba County, though authorities confirmed no such registration existed.
The LNP has therefore urged individuals who have recently lost their motorbikes to visit its headquarters with the necessary ownership documents to reclaim their property.
Meanwhile, the police are cautioning the public against purchasing stolen goods, emphasizing that anyone caught engaging in such illegal transactions will face arrest and prosecution in accordance with Liberian law.
The LNP has released photos of the suspect and the recovered motorbikes as part of its ongoing efforts to reunite victims with their stolen property.
