Disappointed students of the closed PYJ Polytechnic in Ganta are urging the administration to release their transfer documents so they can continue their studies at other universities.
The students claim the institution has been sold to a private individual who intends to repurpose the property for activities outside of education.
PYJ Polytechnic has remained non-operational for three academic semesters, a situation that began after the passing of its founder, Senator Prince Y. Johnson, in 2024. Since then, there has been no official update on the school’s status, leaving students in limbo.
Many of them say they feel abandoned and are demanding swift intervention to prevent their academic pursuits from being permanently disrupted.
Observers believe the prolonged closure and alleged sale of the school highlight the rapid decline of Senator Johnson’s influence and the fading legacy of the man once hailed as the “Godfather of Nimba.”
