The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Grand Gedeh County Detachment has arrested five Guinean nationals for alleged drug-related offenses following a targeted operation in Zwedru City.
According to the LDEA, the arrest took place on October 22, 2025, around 3:09 PM at the Polgal Pharmacy in Zwedru. The operation, conducted under a duly issued search and seizure warrant, resulted in the discovery of 78 strips and 5 pieces of Tramadol, LD$660,000, US$500, 26 rounds of single-barrel gun ammunition, one single-barrel gun, and a notebook believed to contain relevant records.
The suspects have been identified as:
Amadou Barry, 40 Ashar Barr, 21 Abu Layee Sow, 38 Mamadu Jallah, 25 Alimatu Jallah, 18
All five individuals are currently being held at the LDEA Grand Gedeh headquarters pending further investigation.
The Agency stated that once the investigation is concluded, non-drug-related items seized during the operation will be turned over to the appropriate authorities, while charges related to narcotics possession and trafficking will proceed under Liberia’s new drug law.
The LDEA has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and related crimes across the country and assured the public that updates on the case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
