Liberia and Rwanda have officially signed a Reciprocal Visa Waiver Agreement, enabling citizens from both countries to travel freely without visa requirements. Officials say the move is designed to promote trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, making travel easier for both businesspeople and ordinary citizens.
In addition to the visa waiver, the two governments also finalized a series of cooperation agreements covering key areas of mutual interest. These agreements are expected to foster collaboration in sectors such as education, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), e-governance, environmental sustainability, and air transport.
Leaders from both nations described the agreements as a major milestone, signaling a deeper commitment to partnership and mutual development. The initiatives mark a new chapter in Liberia-Rwanda relations, with a focus on enhancing economic growth, people-to-people ties, and regional integration.
By facilitating easier travel and broader cooperation, the agreements are also expected to leverage opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), encouraging intra-African trade and investment while reinforcing development and post-conflict recovery efforts.
