The Liberia National Police (LNP) has confirmed the arrest of Amos K. Koffa, who had been charged in absentia for his alleged role in the December 18, 2024, Capitol Building arson case.
Koffa, formerly the Maintenance Department Supervisor at the Capitol, reportedly fled Liberia on April 6, 2025, using the alias “Roland King.” His escape came amid allegations linking him to the arson, with authorities indicating that other suspects allegedly assisted in his evasion.
Through coordinated intelligence sharing with the Ghana Police Service and INTERPOL, the LNP tracked Koffa’s movements to Ghana, where he was placed on the international watch list. In July 2025, Koffa narrowly avoided capture during a joint security operation, but law enforcement remained persistent.
After months of surveillance and regional collaboration, Koffa was finally apprehended on September 1, 2025, at the Loguatuo Border during a coordinated operation by joint security forces.
He is now in LNP custody at the Police Headquarters in Monrovia, where investigations are ongoing. Authorities have stated that Koffa will be sent to court in due course to face formal charges.
The Liberia National Police emphasized its commitment to justice, assuring the public that all individuals implicated in the arson case will be held accountable under the law. Further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
