A case of shocking sexual violence has left residents of Gbanquoi Town, Nimba County District #7 horrified, after a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his own niece, an 8-month-old baby girl.
The suspect, Otis Yeabo, was taken into custody by the Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police. He has since been charged and forwarded to the Saclepea Magisterial Court for trial.
According to reports, the incident happened on August 25, 2025, during a family celebration marking the circumcision of the baby’s twin brother. Community sources say Yeabo, who is an uncle to the victim, was later found naked inside the room where the infants had been sleeping.
The baby’s mother reportedly discovered early the next morning that her daughter had been violated.
This disturbing case has sparked anger in the community, with many calling for the strongest possible punishment under the law. Authorities have promised that justice will be served.
