The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed two officers from its Police Support Unit (PSU) after an internal investigation confirmed they engaged in criminal misconduct, abuse of authority, and other forms of unsatisfactory behavior.
The officers, identified as Patrolman Edwin T. Ceasar and Patrolman Stephen B. Wanawon, were investigated by the Professional Standards Department, which concluded that their actions violated provisions of the LNP’s Discipline Regulations of 2016.
According to the police, the decision to dismiss the officers was not only a disciplinary measure but also a matter of accountability. Both men have been removed from active service and turned over to the Criminal Service Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a statement, the LNP reiterated its commitment to integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights. The institution stressed that disciplinary actions of this nature are essential for preserving public trust and ensuring that law enforcement operates within the boundaries of the law.
The police further extended gratitude to the public for its cooperation and ongoing support, noting that rebuilding confidence between communities and law enforcement is central to creating a safer and more just Liberia.
