EFL League Two club Tranmere Rovers have continued their active summer transfer window by announcing the signing of Liberian international Nohan Kenneh on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Prenton Park outfit after spells in the English and Scottish leagues and brings a wealth of experience despite his young age. Kenneh, who stands at 6ft 2in, has already made close to 100 senior appearances and becomes manager Andy Crosby’s sixth summer signing as the club aims for promotion ambitions.
Born in Liberia, Kenneh moved to the UK as a refugee at the age of six. He represented England at U16, U17, and U18 levels before switching international allegiance to his country of birth. Since receiving his first call-up in March 2023, he has earned seven caps for the Lone Star of Liberia.
Kenneh developed in Leeds United’s Academy, before beginning his senior career at Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. Loan stints at Ross County and most recently Shrewsbury Town in League One followed, where he featured in 28 matches during the 2023/24 season.
Speaking after completing his move, Kenneh said:
“I’m really happy to be here. I can’t wait to get going. I spoke to the gaffer, he had a really clear vision for me, for the team, the ambition for the club.”
Manager Andy Crosby praised the midfielder’s physical attributes and competitive edge:
“We are delighted to bring Nohan to our new squad. He’s a player we’ve been aware of since his time at Leeds. A full international with nearly 100 club appearances at just 22 speaks volumes.
Athleticism has been a key focus of our recruitment, players who can run and compete throughout the whole game. Nohan brings a physicality and energy to press and regain the ball as a number six.”
Crosby also hinted at further additions, reinforcing that Rovers are building a squad that reflects their principles of intensity, competition, and tactical discipline.
Kenneh will now link up with his new teammates ahead of the 2025/26 campaign as Tranmere seek to climb back up the English football pyramid.
