Tensions are flaring in Liberia’s entertainment scene as fast-rising artist SIO took to social media with bold accusations against his former record label, Libmuzik Records, claiming the label is behind a targeted smear campaign to derail his solo career.
The controversy erupted shortly after SIO released a deeply emotional freestyle on his official Facebook page. What appeared to be a heartfelt musical expression quickly turned chaotic, as a flood of critical comments swarmed the post. Many users accused the singer of recycling lyrics and called on him to diversify his sound.
But SIO is not buying the backlash. In a fiery response, the artist alleged that Libmuzik Records is deliberately paying people to post negative comments aimed at damaging his public image and momentum.
“I am no longer under Libmuzik,” SIO declared. “I’m independent. Let me be! I’m not your artist anymore.”
The young singer insisted that his journey is guided by divine favor, not by industry politics. “It’s God who put me here,” he stated, adding, “No man can bring me down.”

He went further to express concern over the personal toll of the alleged campaign, saying the label’s actions are threatening his family’s livelihood.
“You trying to take food from my family’s table, but God will not allow that,” SIO said. “I stand on faith.”
This public rift between artist and label adds another layer to the ongoing conversation about creative independence and power struggles within Liberia’s music industry. Libmuzik Records has yet to issue a formal response to the allegations.
As SIO continues to forge his path outside the label system, the industry watches closely. Whether this storm will pass or turn into a full-blown feud remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: SIO is not backing down.
