President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has established a high-level Presidential Task Force to respond to critical concerns raised by the United States Government. These concerns, if left unresolved, could result in the imposition of a travel ban affecting Liberian citizens.
Recognizing the complexity of the issues, which span several government sectors, President Boakai will personally chair the Task Force, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs serving as co-chair. The Task Force brings together key institutions including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Health, State for Presidential Affairs, Liberia National Police, Office of the National Security Advisor, and the National Security Agency.
The first meeting took place on June 17, 2025, at the Executive Mansion, where President Boakai and senior officials including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Liberia National Police Inspector General, Minister of State without Portfolio for Special Services, and the National Security Advisor convened.
During this initial session, the Task Force formulated a multi-sectorial work plan designed to address the U.S. Government’s concerns thoroughly and promptly. The plan’s implementation will involve close cooperation with U.S. counterparts and will be continuously monitored to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective results.

President Boakai emphasized his administration’s dedication to good governance, adherence to the rule of law, and maintaining Liberia’s enduring partnership with the United States.
This decisive action underscores the government’s commitment to addressing international concerns proactively and safeguarding the rights and mobility of Liberian citizens.
