Liberia’s Women’s Senior National Team touched down triumphantly at the Roberts International Airport today, proudly carrying the third-place trophy from the 2025 WAFU A Women’s Cup.
The team, affectionately known as the Lone Star Queens, made history by clinching bronze in the regional tournament, and they were met with jubilation, cultural celebration, and official honors upon arrival.
Leading the welcoming party was the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha Ishola Raji, along with Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. G. Andy Quamie. The Liberia National Cultural Troop also graced the occasion, turning the airport’s arrival area into a festive scene of drumming, dancing, and jubilation.

Addressing the players on the tarmac, LFA President Raji praised the team for their resilience and outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
“You have made us proud,” Raji said. “This is more than a trophy, it’s a symbol of your determination, discipline, and dedication to making Liberia’s name heard in women’s football across West Africa.”
Deputy Minister Quamie echoed the praise and reaffirmed the government’s support for the growth of women’s football in Liberia, noting that the achievement marked a turning point in the country’s sporting history.
“This third-place finish is just the beginning,” he said. “We are committed to supporting the dreams of our female athletes and giving them the resources they need to continue breaking barriers.”
The team’s success at the 2025 WAFU A Women’s Cup has reignited national excitement around women’s football, with fans flooding social media with messages of pride and encouragement.
