In a groundbreaking achievement that has put Liberia on the global tech radar, the Liberia Cyber Warriors have emerged as one of the standout teams at GISEC GLOBAL 2025, the world’s largest cybersecurity event, an edition that shattered over 11 Guinness World Records for participation, innovation, and cyber excellence.
The elite competition, hosted in Dubai, brought together cybersecurity professionals from over 160 countries, but it was Liberia’s very own Victor K. Jarlwood Jr., famously known as “Cyberdon”, who stole the spotlight. Representing Liberia with skill and precision, Cyberdon placed 10th globally in the individual Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge, a ranking that has stunned the international tech community.
“It wasn’t easy competing against giants in the cybersecurity world, but we stood our ground. We’re proud to be part of this global moment,” Cyberdon said following the results announcement.
Liberia was selected among the Top 30 teams worldwide to participate in this prestigious cyber showdown, a rare feat for a West African nation, signaling a bold new chapter for Liberia in the digital age.

This success didn’t come by accident. It’s the product of hard work, teamwork, and national collaboration. The Liberia Cyber Warriors’ participation was powered by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, in partnership with Orange Digital Center, Mwetana Consulting & Technology Group, and STARZ University.
Observers have hailed this as a turning point, not just for Liberia’s tech sector, but for the country’s global perception in innovation and digital defense.
“This is more than a competition, it’s proof that Liberia is ready to lead in Africa’s cybersecurity space,” said a representative from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
With cyber threats growing across the continent, Liberia’s showing at GISEC Global 2025 is a strong argument for urgent investment in cybersecurity education, infrastructure, and innovation. Experts believe this momentum can fuel a new generation of digital defenders across Liberia.
