The Swagger Island Community, opposite Stephen Tolbert Estate, is mourning a heartbreaking tragedy that has left residents shaken and in tears. What started as an ordinary day quickly turned into a nightmare when two young souls lost their lives in a tragic well accident.
Moses, a boy around 16 years old, was sent by the woman he lived with to clean a well. But something went terribly wrong, he slipped and fell in. With no way to climb out, Moses struggled in the deep water, calling for help.
The woman, realizing what had happened, ran to a community member named Marfred for help. But instead of alerting the entire neighborhood, she begged him to keep it quiet. Marfred, seeing the urgency, didn’t think twice. He climbed down into the well, hoping to save Moses.
As word started to spread, Momo, another child in the community known for always caring for his younger twin siblings, heard about the situation. Without hesitation, he rushed to the scene. In a desperate attempt to help, he also went down into the well, but just like Moses and Marfred, he, too, became trapped.
The once-lively community was now filled with cries and panic. Residents watched helplessly, unable to do anything as the situation spiraled out of control. Eventually, emergency responders, police officers, and investigators arrived. They managed to rescue Marfred and he was taken to a nearby health facility for checkup and subsequent treatment. They also retrieved the bodies of Moses and Momo, but by then, it was too late. They were already dead.

Now, the entire Swagger Island Community is left in grief, questioning how this could have happened. Why was Moses sent alone to clean a well? Why did the woman try to keep it a secret? And most painfully, could their lives have been saved if help had come sooner?
For now, the community mourns. Two young lives are gone, leaving behind only memories and unanswered questions.
