“Statement on the Tragic Accident at Bea Mountain Mining Cooperation.
Date: February 15, 2025
We are deeply saddened to report a tragic accident involving a local Liberian worker at the Bea Mountain Mining Cooperation last night while he was on duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident.
The management of Bea Mountain, in collaboration with the Liberia National Police, is actively conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. We are committed to transparency throughout this process and will provide updates to the public as soon as the investigation is completed.
Both the management of Bea Mountain and the Government of Liberia take this incident very seriously and are fully dedicated to ensuring a comprehensive inquiry. We ask the public to remain peaceful and law-abiding during this time, as we await the findings of the investigation.

Despite their statement, employees are still left frustrated and concerned about the constant dangers involved with working at the mine due to the lack of or limited access to key safety measures.
In the video circulated amongst employees, victim Blawin could be clearly seen not wearing a reflective jacket or any safety gears at the time of the incident at Midnight.
The body of the victim has since been deposited at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital Mortuary in Sinkor, Monrovia.
