After nine months of being on hold due to a Supreme Court stay order, the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) is officially back in action. With the Court ruling in its favor, the task force now has the legal authority to go after stolen government assets, no more delays, no more excuses.

AREPT was established in March 2024 by President Joseph Boakai through Executive Order #126 to track down and recover government properties that were illegally acquired. But after Gracious Ride challenged the legitimacy of the team, its work was paused pending the Supreme Court’s final decision. Now that the ruling has cleared any doubts about its legality, the task force is wasting no time in getting back to business.

What Happens Now?

AREPT has announced that investigations will immediately resume into stolen assets, suspicious properties, illegal wealth transfers, and other cases of financial misconduct involving both past and present government officials, business figures, and private individuals who may have played a role in the alleged theft of public resources.

The task force is making it clear: everyone under investigation will be given the opportunity to defend themselves. No one will be indicted without proper questioning and due process. However, if individuals refuse to cooperate with the investigation, AREPT won’t hesitate to move forward with legal action based on the evidence at hand.

Shocking Revelations: The Nine-Month Cover-Up

During the stay order, some people thought they could outsmart the system. AREPT’s surveillance unit has uncovered secret attempts to hide stolen assets, including:
✅ Moving large sums of cash out of Liberia under fake company names
✅ Changing bank accounts and transferring funds to minors and close relatives
✅ Smuggling government vehicles across borders, repainting them, and changing their identities
✅ Falsifying land and property deeds to erase ownership links

But they were being watched the entire time, and AREPT says those involved will now have to answer for their actions.

How You Can Help

AREPT is calling on every Liberian to take a stand against corruption by reporting suspicious assets, including:

🚗 Government vehicles and equipment that have gone missing
💰 Suspicious financial activities

All reports will be kept confidential, and whistleblowers will be protected. You can reach AREPT through the following:
