Margibi County is reeling once again, faced with another heart-wrenching tragedy that leaves us questioning the safety and humanity of our society. Miss Hennistta Wonder Nyangbe brought this shocking story to light, and it’s one that no one should have to hear, let alone endure.
A five-year-old boy, just a child, full of innocence and life, became the victim of a horrifying crime allegedly committed by a senior student of the Albert Daniel Peabody School in Lower Margibi, Marshall City. This senior student, instead of being a role model, reportedly took advantage of the little boy while he was on his way to school, leaving him bleeding and abandoned in the bush.
A Brave Child, a Heartbroken Family
The young boy, despite his pain, managed to find his way home and report the incident to his family. The courage it took for him to speak out, even as he bled and suffered, is unimaginable. Meanwhile, the accused returned to school and sat in class as if nothing had happened, a chilling reminder of the lack of conscience in some individuals.
Justice in Progress
Thankfully, the alleged perpetrator is now in police custody in Marshall. But this case goes beyond just one arrest; it demands thorough investigation and accountability. Justice must not only be served but seen to be served, to send a clear message that such heinous acts will not be tolerated in our society.

A Mother’s Plea, a Community’s Responsibility
Miss Nyangbe, speaking as a mother, expressed the pain and disgust that many of us feel:
“How are such individuals roaming around in society? As for the little child involved, relevant organizations responsible for such issues need to come to his aid. He’s still at home. Sad.”
This tragedy is a stark reminder that we, as a community, must do more to protect our children. It’s not enough to respond after the fact; we need preventative measures, education, and stronger systems to ensure that no child endures such suffering.
What Can Be Done?
- Immediate Support for the Victim: The young boy and his family need urgent medical, psychological, and emotional support. Relevant organizations and child advocacy groups must step in to provide the care they need to begin the healing process.
- Accountability for the Perpetrator: The justice system must act swiftly and decisively to ensure the accused faces the full weight of the law. This is about more than punishment; it’s about restoring a sense of safety to the community.
- Community Action: This incident is a wake-up call for parents, schools, and local leaders to strengthen efforts in child protection and awareness. We must teach our children how to identify and report unsafe situations while holding adults accountable for ensuring their safety.
Healing Through Justice
This story is one of unimaginable pain, but it’s also a call to action. The five-year-old boy who found the strength to speak up deserves not just our sympathy but our commitment to ensuring he receives justice and care.
To the people of Margibi and beyond: let this tragedy fuel our determination to create a safer environment for every child. Let us demand better from our systems, our communities, and ourselves.
May the young boy find the strength to heal, and may justice prevail for him and his family. Margibi, we stand with you in this time of sorrow.
