In a move that has left many fearful and uncertain about their future in the United States, President Trump’s administration has ramped up its expulsion program, targeting over 1.4 million people across the globe. Among those affected are 1,563 Liberians, a number that highlights the strain this policy is placing on families and communities from countries like Guinea, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Cameroon, and others.
According to a document from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, people from these countries are being added to the list of those set to be deported. This move is part of a broader strategy to significantly reduce the number of immigrants in the U.S. and tighten border control measures, which has left many feeling vulnerable, including those who have built lives in the U.S. over the years.

For Liberians, this decision is particularly painful. Many of them have been in the U.S. for years, some for decades, after fleeing the civil conflict and instability back home. Their families are now facing the possibility of being separated, with little time to adjust or prepare for what might come next.
It’s important to remember that each number on that list represents a person, someone with hopes, dreams, and loved ones. These are human lives caught in the middle of political decisions that they have no control over.

As we reflect on this situation, let us keep our brothers and sisters in our thoughts and prayers, hoping for their safety and peace as they navigate this difficult time. May God protect them and all those affected by this policy.
