As the calendar winds down to the close of 2024, Liberia’s legislative corridors are buzzing with activity. The House of Representatives has officially commenced the budget hearing process for the fiscal year 2025, a crucial step in charting the nation’s development priorities for the year ahead. The hearings, held in Monrovia, were marked by the presence of Acting Minister of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Tanneh G. Brunson, who set the tone by urging lawmakers to expedite their review of the proposed budget.
Minister Brunson, representing Finance Minister Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, emphasized that the proposed budget is more than just a fiscal document—it’s a roadmap for Liberia’s future. “This budget aligns with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), and its swift passage is essential to advancing the nation’s priorities,” she stated during her address to the House’s Ways, Means, and Finance Committee.
