In a defiant and impassioned statement, Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah has responded to his expulsion from the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) with grace and resolve, affirming his enduring commitment to the party’s founding values and his lifelong dedication to the Liberian people.
The decision to expel Fallah, a founding member and Vice Chairman for Operations of the CDC, has drawn widespread attention. However, for the Deputy Speaker, it is less a personal attack and more a pivotal moment to reflect on his decades of service, both to the party and to the nation.
“A Legacy Built on Grassroots Democracy”
Deputy Speaker Fallah, affectionately known as a “trench warrior” within CDC circles, remains unshaken by what he describes as an “arbitrary and unconstitutional” expulsion. With nearly two decades of service in the party, Fallah sees this development as an opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the principles upon which the CDC was built: grassroots democracy, transparency, and service to the people.
“The CDC was founded on the ideals of justice and fairness,” he stated. “These ideals guided my actions yesterday, guide me today, and will continue to guide me tomorrow. No expulsion can erase the contributions I have made or diminish my love for this party and our shared vision for Liberia.”
“An Expulsion Without Due Process”
Fallah minced no words in challenging the procedural flaws that led to his expulsion, citing specific violations of the CDC’s Constitution and Codes of Conduct. He described the decision as a “malicious and unilateral act” devoid of due process or fairness.
“The CDC’s Constitution clearly outlines the steps for disciplinary action, including the right to a formal hearing and the opportunity to defend oneself,” Fallah explained. “None of these processes were observed. This expulsion is not just an affront to me—it’s an affront to the principles of justice and accountability that should guide any democratic institution.”
“Commitment to the People Above All Else”
Despite this setback, the Deputy Speaker emphasized that his focus remains steadfast on serving his constituents and advancing Liberia’s development. He rejected the notion that his recent actions—misinterpreted by some as diverging from party lines—were anything other than efforts to address critical national issues.
“My loyalty has always been to the Liberian people,” Fallah affirmed. “Every decision I’ve made has been with their best interests at heart. Leadership is not about popularity—it’s about doing what is right, even when it’s difficult.”
