As the year draws to a close, many of us reflect on the challenges and blessings that have shaped our journeys. For one young Liberian, this reflection carries an extraordinary weight. Despite enduring unimaginable trials, including the loss of both parents and a life-altering health crisis, he stands today as a beacon of resilience, faith, and gratitude.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, the man known as Momolu Kromah shared his story:
“Living without my dad since 2020 and without my mom since 2022 has been an unimaginable struggle, especially with no support from family. In the midst of all this, I faced a severe kidney failure, with my heart rate dropping to just 20%. Yet, by God’s grace, I survived a major operation, coming out stronger than ever.
Afterward, I had to buy medication costing $1500 per year, and despite all the pain and hardship, I pushed forward as if none of it had ever happened. It’s all because of God. Only He could have carried me through these trials. As I stand at the end of another year, still living with just one kidney, I am overwhelmed with gratitude, knowing how far He has brought me, and how blessed I am to be here today. Thank you for Jesus.”
This young man’s story reminds us of the incredible strength of the human spirit and the power of faith in the face of adversity. Losing both parents within two years is a burden few can fathom. Compounding this, he faced the life-threatening challenge of kidney failure, a condition that left him clinging to life with a heart rate of just 20%. Yet, through a successful operation and unwavering determination, he has continued his journey with a renewed perspective on life.
Living with one kidney and the financial strain of ongoing medical treatment might have broken others, but this Liberian young man remains steadfast. His gratitude, even amidst hardship, is a testament to his strength and an inspiration to us all.
As we approach the end of another year, his story serves as a powerful reminder to reflect on the blessings in our own lives, no matter how small they may seem. His unwavering faith and hope remind us that even in our darkest moments, we can rise above, overcome, and find reasons to be grateful.
Here’s to his resilience and to all those who continue to fight battles unseen. May we all find the strength to keep pushing forward, one day at a time.
