GBARNGA: Bong County Electoral District #3 lawmaker Josiah Marvin Cole says agriculture is the light for Liberia’s growth and development, with a call to Liberians to prioritize the sector over divisive politics.
Rep. Cole asserted on Saturday, November 3, 2024, during a harvest visit to his farm in Bong County.
The Bong County lawmaker further said agriculture has the potential to alleviate poverty, create job opportunities, and improve the living standards of all Liberians.
Additionally, Representative Cole emphasized that agriculture is the backbone of the Liberian economy; as such, the government must prioritize and invest in the sector.
The opposition CDC lawmaker furthered that if the majority of the Liberian populace gets involved in farming activities, it would lead to impacting the livelihoods of all Liberians.
At the same time, Representative Cole is urging his fellow lawmakers and all government officials to lead by example by investing in the agriculture sector.
According to him, if all government officials get involved in farming activities, ordinary citizens will be encouraged to follow suit.
Moreover, Representative Cole is admonishing the Boakai administration to provide local farmers with the needed resources and agricultural inputs and implement them to increase their productivity and efficiency.
Notwithstanding, Rep. Cole further pledged his commitment to working towards the advancement of the agricultural sector in Bong County and Liberia by extension.
He added that as a lawmaker who is leading by example, he has a very large farm in Bong County, where residents work and earn for their families.
Meanwhile, Representative Cole is urging residents of Bong County to put an end to divisive politics, emphasizing the importance of unity and working together for the betterment of the county.
He stated that the current political climate in Liberia, especially Bong County, is caused by divisive rhetoric and personal agendas, which are hindering progress and development in the region.
He further called on all citizens to put aside their political differences and focus on working together for the common good of Liberia.
He reminded Liberians that everyone belongs to the nation and is equal under the law; as such, working together in one accord would lead to the development of Liberia.
